Planning to construct or remodel a building or refit an interior space?  You will need to check with the departments below.

Approvals may be necessary and permits must be obtained for all but minor maintenance and decorating.  Start with the Planning and Zoning Department, located in Town Hall, for an overview of what will be required.

Planning and Zoning Department for a general overview of permits and approvals that will be needed.

Conservation Department for work in or near a wetlands or watercourse.

Department of Public Works for issues related to the Town sewer system, drainage requirements, and driveways.

Building Department for building permits.  This department will coordinate with the Fire Department for Fire code requirements for certain structures.

Westport Weston Health District

Check with the WWHD if your proposed project involves a septic system, well water, food service, or will require a cosmetology permit.
