Our Mission

The Town of Westport recognizes the importance of recreation in the overall quality of life of its residents, and our parks, athletic facilities, and recreation programs are designed to enhance that quality of life. The Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing the best recreation facilities and programs to meet the needs of the residents of Westport.

Program Registration Policies

  • All programs are available to Westport residents and non-residents. 
  • A current and active Parks and Recreation handpass is required for participation in all programs for all Westport residents, age 6 and up. 
  • There is an additional fee of $20 for children and $35 for adults, per program for non-residents, who may only register for programs ten days prior to the start date, if space is available.  However, non-residents may register for sports camps only at any time with additional fees mentioned above.  ONLINE PROGRAM REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN ON SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 2009.
  • Many programs will fill quickly and the fastest way to register will now be ONLINE. To do so you will need a Login ID and Account Password to access your account.  Also, all family members that you want to register for programs must be approved and in your account.  If you do not have a Login ID and Account Password or need to add/edit household members to your account, you must contact the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • If you choose not to register ONLINE, you may register by fax, by mail or walk-in at the Parks and Recreation office beginning March 16, 2009.
  • Payment must be made in full at the time of registration either ONLINE, by fax, by mail or walk-in.  Payment by check is only accepted in person or by mail.  Payment by cash is accepted only in person.  Payment by American Express, MasterCard or VISA is accepted for any transaction.
  • There are no group placement requests.
  • No Westport resident will be denied participation in a program  because of inability to pay the fee.  Please contact Mr. Rick Giunta, Administrative Manager at 341-5089 for confidential assistance.
  • ADA Statement/Inclusion Policy:  It is our policy that recreation is for all members of the community and they are welcome to explore their recreation interests in our many programs.  To discuss how we can support your abilities, interest and desire to participate, please contact our Inclusive Recreation Coordinator at 454-6106.
  • REFUNDS:  All program registrations are refundable up to 30 days prior to the program beginning.  Less than 30 days prior to the program beginning, a refund MAY be available if the participant’s place in the activity can be filled from the wait list.  Refunds for documented medical reasons and program cancellations will be issued as requested.
  • WEATHER CANCELLATIONS:   All programs are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.  Cancellation information for day camps will be broadcast on WICC 600 AM and along with any other program cancellations at 341-5074.  There are NO MAKE-UPS, REFUNDS OR CREDITS for programs cancelled due to inclement weather.

General Information 

Parking emblems will be required at Compo Beach and Longshore through Sept. 30.

Boats can be berthed from April 1 – Nov. 30. 

Animals are prohibited at the beach from April 1 – Sept. 30.

Bathhouses close Oct. 1.
