The original Longshore golf course was built in the 1920s and was designed by Orin Edward Smith, a construction superintendent for famous golf course architect, Willie Park, Jr.

In 2007, the Town of Westport completed a $2.3 million remodeling of the golf course designed by golf course architect, A. John Harvey, ASGCA, with The RBA Group
