Spring and Summer Information for 2007

Parking Emblems

One parking emblem/handpass application will be mailed to each household in which there is at least one Westport registered voter. It may be used by two (2) adults and all children under age 18 in the household who are full-time Westport residents. Additional adult residents over age 18 must apply in person at the Parks and Recreation Department Sales Office and provide two proofs of residency.

IF YOU ARE APPLYING BY MAIL, a copy of current car registration must be submitted for each emblem purchased. Mailed Photo Handpass renewals must enclose previously issued Photo Handpass. All applications by mail must be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped, business size (#9 or #10) envelope for return of purchased materials.

IF YOU ARE APPLYING IN PERSON, you must bring in the current car registration (or photocopy) for each emblem purchased. There will be no exceptions to this policy.

  1. A PARKING EMBLEM is required for entering and/or parking at all beaches and designated lots at Longshore Club Park.
  2. WESTPORT RESIDENTS WHOSE VEHICLES ARE REGISTERED OUT-OF-TOWN will be subject to a fee of $175.00 for a parking emblem. ($85.00 for Senior Citizens/Handicapped).  No exceptions.

Handpass

 A Parks and Recreation Handpass is a recreation identity card issued to Westport residents and is required for resident access to the town's tennis courts, use of Longshore Pool and program enrollment for ages 6 and up as of July 1, 2007  (a handpass is not required for summer camp or sports camp enrollment.)

Handpasses are issued to individuals for their use only.  Handpasses are not transferable and may not be used by anyone other than the person to whom the handpass was issued!

Photo Handpass

  1. Required for adult golf play and is valid for all handpass activities.
  2. Photo Handpass renewals must include previously issued Photo Handpass.

Sales Office

The Sales Office at Longshore for the purchase of parking emblems, handpasses, permits, etc. will open to the public beginning on MONDAY, APRIL 2, 2007. 

PROGRAM REGISTRATION begins on SATURDAY, March 31, 2007.

SALES OFFICE HOURS:
Monday through Friday  -  9:00 am to 4:30 pm (Tuesdays April 3 through May 29 until 8 p.m.)
Saturday   -  9:00 am to 1:00 pm (April 7 through July 28 only)

No Westport resident will be denied access to Parks and Recreation facilities because of inability to pay the fees.  For confidential assistance contact the Department of Human Services at 341-1050

Program Information for 2007

ELIGIBILITY
Westport Parks and Recreation programs are available to residents of Westport and their children. Non-residents will be accepted on a space-available basis 10 days prior to program start date.

GUIDELINES
All program registrations must be made in person and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until each program is filled.  MAILED REGISTRATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

DATE AND TIME OF REGISTRATION
Summer program registration will begin on SATURDAY, March 31 at the BEDFORD MIDDLE SCHOOL CAFETERIA from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m..  Registrations will continue during regular Sales Office hours beginning on Monday, April 2. This includes all programs, both youth and adult.  

ABSENTEE REGISTRATION
All program registrations must be made in person and will be on a first-come, first-served basis until each program is filled. Program registration may be submitted by an unrelated person, however, an individual may enroll only members of one household on April 2. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!

PAYMENT
Payment is due in full either by cash or check made payable to Town of Westport at the time of registration. 

SPECIAL NEEDS
Please advise us of any special needs of program participants at the time of registration so we may make appropriate accommodations.  Information sheets will be provided.

ENROLLMENT LIMITATION
Program registration is limited to one course per program (except for Summer Camps and Sports Camps) until June 1.  On June 1 and after you may register for as many courses as desired on a space-available basis.  This is done to allow the greatest number of individuals to participate in Westport’s recreation programs.

REFUND POLICY: All program registrations are refundable up to 30 DAYS PRIOR to the program beginning. Less than 30 days prior to the program beginning, a refund may be available if the participant's place in class can be filled from the wait list. Refunds for documented medical reasons and program cancellations will be issued as requested.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS: All programs are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Cancellation information will be broadcast on WICC 600 AM and may be obtained by calling our cancellation line, 341-5074. There are NO MAKE-UPS, REFUNDS OR CREDITS for program classes cancelled due to inclement weather.
