The Westport Fire Department offers a Babysitting Safety Course, held at Westport Fire Headquarters. The course takes place one afternoon a week for two hours, for four consecutive weeks, and is offered in the spring and in the fall.

Applicants are chosen on a first-come, first-serve, basis. The maximum number of participants for the program is fifteen. Applicant age is eleven or older.

The course includes such babysitting responsibilities as how to handle emergencies, first aid, rescue breathing, the use of fire extinguishers, and kitchen safety.

The charge for the Babysitting Safety Course is twenty dollars.
