July 2010: Time for summer fun
GASOLINE SAFETY
Gasoline should be stored outside the home, preferably in a locked, detached shed.Store no more than needed to power your gasoline-fueled equipment. Keep it well away from any heat source and in a clearly marked container that is labeled and approved for gasoline storage.
- Use gasoline as motor fuel ONLY. To transport in an automobile to and from gasoline station, place in trunk with trunk lid propped open.
- Fill the portable container on the ground at the service station, NOT WHILE IN OR AT YOUR VEHICLE.
- Drive directly to the fueling site and directly back. Do NOT store gas in your automobile.
- Before fueling, extinguish smoking materials; wipe up spills immediately; before re-fueling, turn off equipment and let it cool.
- Any surplus/old products can be set aside and brought to household hazardous waste collection sites throughout the year – call 341-5020 for details.
