Tax Assessor signs 2009 Grand List

Westport Town Assessor Paul Friia has announced that on Jan. 31 he signed the Oct. 1, 2009 Grand List as required by state statute.

“The net Grand List of $10,910,243,025 represents an increase of approximately 1.35 percent over the 2008 Grand List based on 2005 values,” said Friia.

The list is the sum of the assessed value of all taxable property, including real estate, motor vehicles, and personal property.  

Motor vehicles and personal property are valued annually, while real estate is updated based on the market values determined as of the town’s last revaluation date of Oct.1, 2005....more>>

Westport to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Longshore Club Park

First Selectman Gordon F. Joseloff has announced the formation of a committee to develop and execute a program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Town of Westport’s 1960 purchase of Longshore Club Park. 

Joseloff has begun the process of selecting volunteers to serve on the Longshore 50th Anniversary Committee, which will be charged with fulfilling two core objectives.....more>>

Financial workshop scheduled for students planning to attend college

A free workshop on financial planning will be offered to students and parents on Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 7:30 – 9 p.m. at Toquet Hall.
