Shellfish Permits to be issued beginning May 15

Conservation Director Alicia Mozian has announced that the Westport Shellfish Commission will begin issuing permits for recreational shellfishing on May 15. 

Permits will be required beginning June 1 to allow a grace period for those who may not know that a permit is now needed.  

“This marks a major achievement in what was a long haul in trying to reclaim jurisdictional control that had been taken away from the town by the decision of the Connecticut Supreme Court that control belonged to the state,” said Mozian....more>>

Westport will accept tax relief applications until May 15

Westport Assessor Paul Friia reminds residents that his office is accepting senior tax relief applications through Thursday, May 15.   

The programs are open to homeowners who are totally disabled or who have reached the age of 65 by the date of application. 

“Qualified applicants for the state program are those who own their own homes or hold a ‘life use’ title to their home, have resided in Connecticut for one year prior to filing application, and whose ‘qualifying income’ does not exceed $29,800 for single, or $36,500 for married couples,” said Friia....more>>

Town announces fifth year of the "Ceremonies and Celebrations" program

Human Services Director Barbara Butler has announced the fifth year of the “Ceremonies and Celebrations” program.  

“Last year, thanks to the generosity of the Westport community and the schools’ PTAs, 18 Westport students were able to purchase new special event clothing for their graduations from middle and high school,” she said. 

The public can help fill the need for this year’s graduating students and lift a bit of the expense burden for families ....more>>

May 12 Public Hearing (Monday)

May 14 Public Hearing (Thursday)

May 19 Public Hearing (Monday)

May 20 Public Hearing (Tuesday, In reserve)

May 22 Public Hearing (Thursday)

May 28 Public Hearing (Wednesday, In reserve)

May 29 Public Hearing (Thursday, If necessary)

All meetings will take place in the Town Hall Auditorium at 6:30  p.m. and will be televised and videostreamed.....more>>

Town Plan of Conservation and Development

On Oct. 25,  2007 the Planning and Zoning Commission adopted the Town of Westport 2007 Plan of Conservation and Development. The Plan was filed with the Town Clerk on Nov. 2, 2007 and became effective Dec. 15, 2007.
