First installment of Westport property taxes due July 1

Payment of the first installment of Westport property taxes is due on July 1. Tax bills may be paid in person at the Tax Collector's office in Room 109 at Town Hall, during regular office hours, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Town Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3 for the July 4 holiday.  

Tax Bills may also be paid online, or by telephone.

Fireworks scheduled for Friday, July 3

First Selectman Gordon F. Joseloff has announced that the fireworks, hosted by Westport P.A.L., will be held at Compo Beach at sundown on Friday, July 3.  The rain date is Monday, July 6.

Tickets are $30 per car and must be purchased in advance. They are available at the Westport Parks and Recreation offices at Longshore Club Park during business hours, and also at Westport Police Headquarters anytime. 

On the day of the fireworks Compo Beach will close at 4 p.m. and reopen at 5 p.m. for fireworks ticket holders. 

The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Westport EMS to offer Heart Saver training

The American Heart Association Heart Saver Adult CPR  with AED training will be offered on the following dates:

  • June 24: 9 a.m. and 12 p.m
  • July 7:  9 a.m. 12 p.m , 3 p.m
  • July 7:  7 p.m. (Heart Saver Child and Infant Program)
  • July 9:  9 a.m.

Students only need to attend one session.

All classes are in the Westport Police Department class room at 50 Jesup Road

Classes run about two hours and are free to Westport residents and all town employees.

The training is sponsored by Westport Volunteer EMS.

Town launches CodeRed High-Speed Telephone Emergency Notification System

First Selectman Gordon F. Joseloff has announced that the Town of Westport has contracted with Emergency Communications Network, Inc., of Ormond Beach, Fla., for its CodeRED high-speed telephone emergency notification services. “This system will improve the safety of all our residents by giving us the ability to deliver emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas or the entire town at the rate of 1,000 calls a minute,” he said....more>>
