FAQ about storm recovery and local resources

- As of 10 p.m. Monday, 39.54% of Westporters were still without power. Full restoration has been promised by 8 p.m. Wednesday.
- Residents who are on well water and without electricity may go to any fire station and fill up with fresh water. They will need to bring their own container/bucket. Supermarkets (STOP&SHOP) still have bottled water for sale.
- The Center for Senior Activities will be open until 8 p.m. Monday night as a warming center. Any Westporters may drop in.
- Town Hall is open during normal business hours. Residents can come in with their computers and use the Lobby, Auditorium and Green Room. There is wireless access throughout the building.
- The Westport Public Library is open during normal business hours.
- Brien McMahon High School (300 Highland Avenue,
Norwalk, 203-852-9488) is open as emergency shelter for Westport residents
- The Public Works Department announced that the fee for residents to dispose of yard waste at the Bayberry Lane Yard Waste Site will be waived until Saturday, March 20. The fee will not be waived for commercial haulers.

CL&P pledges full restoration by 8 p.m. Wednesday
Westport First Selectman Gordon F. Joseloff said on Monday, March 15 that Connecticut Light & Power Co. has pledged to have full restoration of power in Westport by 8 p.m. Wednesday.
“We were on a conference call with CL&P and state officials a short time ago and that was the pledge that was made,” he said shortly before noon....more>> |

Traffic accident reports now available online
The Westport Police Department has announced that local traffic accident reports will now be available online beginning Monday, March 15.
Reports will be available at http://westportpdct.policereports.us. There is a link to this site from the Police Department's home page.

Parks & Recreation online registration postponed due to storm
Parks & Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy has announced that online summer program registration will now begin Monday, March 22, at 9 a.m.
Due to the severity of the weekend storm causing townwide power outages, the Parks & Recreation Department has postponed online registration until Monday, March 22 beginning at 9 a.m. In-office registration will be moved to March 29. The Department has apologized for any inconvenience caused by the postponement.

Town launches CodeRed High-Speed Telephone Emergency Notification System
