The mission of the Green Energy Task Force is to encourage and assist Westport residents, businesses, and the town itself to reduce energy consumption through conservation and increased use of green energy options. 

The task force will develop a Clean Energy Action Plan for the town and include recommendations to the First Selectman on measures Westport can take to reduce its usage of fossil fuels.  The plan will outline ways to achieve the 20 percent by 2010 electric goal, recognizing that a portion of the green electricity will be generated “on site.”

It is anticipated that the action plan will be completed no later than Dec. 31, 2007.

The task force will have nine members serving at the pleasure of the First Selectman.
