Parks and Recreation offers online memberships and registrations for 2009

The Westport Parks and Recreation Department is offering online handpasses and program registration for Westport residents as of February 17, 2009.

Although registration for spring programs will not open until Saturday, March 14, the department is encouraging residents to sign up for membership now since it is a prerequisite to purchasing emblems, handpasses, and program registration.  Membership applications must be completed by March 12 in order to register for programs on March 14.

If you or your family participated in fall and/or winter programs, you are already a member and have an account.  If you need to add additional members of your household, you will need to contact the Parks and Recreation office if you cannot logon or forgot your password.

Membership packages are the assorted parking emblems (beach stickers), handpasses, and boat ramp/launch permits.  All packages are for one calendar year and can be renewed and purchased yearly by Westport residents who already have signed up for membership.

All handpasses for golf, pool use, tennis and programs will now require handpasses.  The department is encouraging residents to come into the Parks and Recreation department as soon as possible since membership packages cannot be processed until the photos have been taken.

Residents who do not wish to purchase items online can register by fax, mail-in, or drop-in at the office. Details are explained in a flyer that will be mailed to residents this week.

The online program for Parks and Recreation has been under development for 18 months, and is another addition to the online services provided to residents through the Westport Web site.
