Westport Human Services Director Barbara Butler has announced that the Commission for Senior Services will hold its 13th annual meeting on Friday, May 16, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave.
She said the agenda will include a report on senior housing initiatives such as the First Selectman’s proposal for senior housing on the Baron’s South property and the Westport Housing Authority’s plans to redevelop its Hales Court property.
There will also be a progress report from the committee developing Home in Westport and Weston (Beacon Hill Village model) and reports from the Planning and Zoning Department and the P&Z Affordable Housing Committee on their efforts to increase housing opportunities, Butler said.
Other topics of discussion will include a new transportation concept for older adults first developed in Portland, Maine, an auto exchange for door-to-door service called iTNAmerica (www.itnamerica.org).
All town officials, agency representatives, and citizens who are concerned with and contribute to the well-being of seniors in Westport are invited to attend this annual event, Butler said.
Refreshments will be served. For more information please call the Westport Department of Human Services at 341-1050.
