Registered voters who are unable to vote in person on Election day may vote by Absentee Ballot. These ballots are handled by the Town Clerk's Office, not the Registrars of Voters Office.
After the Absentee Ballot application is processed, the actual Ballot is then mailed (or given personally) to the voter. A voter may request an Absentee Ballot Application at any time, however, the Absentee Ballot is not available until 30 days before Election Day. The Ballot must be returned before the close of the polls on Election Day.
You may also choose to vote by Absentee Ballot, in person, at the Town Clerk’s Office any time during business hours, before Election Day. The Town Clerk's office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office will have special hours on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Connecticut allows you to vote by Absentee Ballot for the following reasons only:
- Absence from town
- Military service
- Illness
- Physical disability
- Religious tenets
- Service as an election official
You may download an Absentee Ballot application from the Secretary of State's Web page or pick one up at the Town Clerk's office. Then, fill it out and submit it to the Town Clerk's office, by fax, mail, or in person. See the directions on the form.
The Town Clerk's office is located in Room 105 at Town Hall.
