First Selectman Kevin Christie announced today that local attorney and former member of the Board of Education and Board of Selectwomen Candice Savin will be designated as the next Assistant Town Attorney.
Attorney Savin will work with Town Attorney Ira Bloom and his colleagues at Berchem Moses, P.C. She succeeds Eileen Lavigne, current Assistant Town Attorney, who is retiring on June 5.
Candice Savin is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University, and she received her law degree from Duke University. In addition to her service on the Westport Board of Education, including two years as chair, Ms. Savin served as a Selectwoman from 2021 through 2025. She has also served on the boards of The Conservative Synagogue and the Westport Chapter of Hadassah. Since 2012, she has served as co-chair for the “Booked for the Evening” event at the Westport Library.
First Selectman Christie stated: “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Candice Savin as Westport’s next Assistant Town Attorney. Ms. Savin brings significant experience in municipal government, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to public service. She will be an important addition to the Town’s legal team.”
Town Attorney Bloom stated: “Ms. Savin is well-respected in town for her legal abilities and her knowledge of town government. I anticipate a smooth transition for her. She will be a great addition to our Westport legal team.”
