Planning & Zoning Director Michelle Perillie has announced that at 6:00pm on April 20, 2026, the Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing to review a Text Amendment to the Zoning Regulations. Text Amendment #866, authored by the Planning and Zoning Commission, proposes removing references to the maximum permitted number of stories in various residential zoning districts and to regulate building scale solely by maximum building height in feet, as measured pursuant to the Building Height definition in §5 of the Zoning Regulations.
Director Perillie states, “The current regulation on Building Height is onerous to both applicants and staff and this change will simplify the process which retaining neighborhood scale.”
The April 20, 2026 public hearing will be held remotely using Zoom, it will be livestreamed on the Town’s website at www.westportct.gov, and/or will be accessible on Optimum Government Access Channel 79. The remote meeting link is published on the meeting agenda available on the Town’s website on the “Meeting List and Calendar” web page.
Written comments may be submitted and should be sent to PandZ@westportct.gov by 12:00pm on the day of the meeting if intended to be distributed for consideration by members of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Written comments received after 12:00pm on the day of the meeting will be added to the record but not be distributed until the next business day.
