Text Amendment to the Westport Zoning Regulations to be Reviewed at Upcoming Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting

Planning & Zoning Director Michelle Perillie announced today that at 6:00 pm on July 20, 2026, the Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing to review Text Amendment #871 of the Zoning Regulations.

This amendment proposes to modify language in §32-18, Historic Residential Structure (HRS), to increase the eligibility threshold for principal structures from 1800 to 1830 to qualify for the subdivision incentive and to eliminate eligibility for certain Historic Structures constructed between 1800 and 1940 to qualify for the subdivision incentive based on exceptional historic or architectural significance.

The July 20, 2026 public hearing will be held remotely using Zoom, it will be livestreamed on the Town’s website at www.westportct.gov, and/or will be accessible on Optimum Government Access Channel 79.  The remote meeting link is published on the meeting agenda available on the Town’s website on the “Meeting List and Calendar” web page.

Written comments may be submitted and should be sent to PandZ@westportct.gov by 12:00 pm on the day of the meeting if intended to be distributed for consideration by members of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Written comments received after 12:00 pm on the day of the meeting will be added to the record but not be distributed until the next business day. Meeting materials are available at www.westportct.gov, on the P&Z Dept. web page under “P&Z Pending Applications & Recent Approvals.
