The Town of Westport reminds residents, businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations, and community groups to consider participating in Westport’s Four Days of Service and Remembrance, commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
The four-day observance encourages the community to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, recognize the courage and sacrifice of first responders, military members, and public servants, and strengthen our community through acts of service and generosity.
The initiative begins on Tuesday, September 8, at 10:00 AM at Town Hall (110 Myrtle Avenue) with the reading of a Town Proclamation recognizing Four Days of Service and Remembrance and reaffirming Westport’s commitment to service, compassion, and community. The public is invited.

Residents may choose to participate in several ways, including:
- Volunteering with Westport nonprofit organizations.
- Donating food, supplies, or financial contributions to local organizations.
- Performing independent acts of kindness or community service.
- Thanking first responders, veterans, healthcare professionals, teachers, and others who serve our community.
Online Tribute Wall
In addition, the Town has launched an Online Tribute Wall, providing residents with an opportunity to share how they are remembering September 11 and honoring those who were lost or who answered the call to serve.
Participants may submit:
- Personal reflections
- Stories of service
- Tributes to loved ones
- Messages of gratitude
- Photos of community service or remembrance activities
Submissions may be shared with a name or anonymously through a simple online form.
Following the conclusion of Four Days of Service and Remembrance, the Town will publish a community summary highlighting volunteer participation, acts of service, charitable giving, and stories of remembrance that reflect the compassion and generosity of Westport.
The Town encourages everyone to contribute in whatever way they are able as we remember those lost on September 11, 2001, honor those who answered the call to serve, and reflect on the extraordinary sense of community, compassion, and unity that emerged in the days that followed.
