Designated Cooling Centers Open to the Public

Due to the extreme heat, the Town of Westport would like to remind residents of health and safety measures to protect against heat-related illnesses and to take special care of young children, seniors and other at-risk populations:  

Find air conditioning, if possible. 
Check on family members and neighbors. 
Drink plenty of fluids. 
Avoid strenuous activities. 
Watch for heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. 
Never leave people or pets in a closed car.
Watch for heat illness. 
Wear light clothing

The following designated cooling centers are open to the public today, Tuesday, September 4 and Wednesday, September 5, 2018:   

Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Avenue
Tuesday, September 04, 2018 (8:30AM to 4:30PM)
Wednesday, September 5, 2018 (8:30AM to 4:30PM)

The Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Avenue
Tuesday, September 4, 2018 (7:30AM until 4:30PM
Wednesday, September 5 (7:30AM until 4:30PM

The Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Rd
Tuesday, September 4, 2018 (9:00AM - 9:00PM)
Wednesday, September 5, 2018 (9:00AM- 9:00PM) 

Westport Historical Society, 25 Avery Place
Tuesday, September 4, 2018 (open until 4:00PM
Wednesday, September 5 (open until 4:00PM

Westport YMCA, 14 Allen Raymond Lane
Tuesday, September 4, 2018  (open until 10:00PM
Wednesday, September 5 (open until 10:00PM
