NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 TO DISCUSS THE TOWN OF WESTPORT’S

SMALL CITIES COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT

SPECIAL APPLICATION TO THE CT DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING FOR

CORONAVIRUS FUNDING (SC CDBG- CV) UNDER THE CARES ACT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town of Westport will conduct a public hearing to discuss and solicit citizen input regarding intent to apply for a Special Round of CARES Act CDBG-CV Grant funding for public services related to Temporary Economic Assistance for income-eligible residents experiencing housing insecurity and financial hardship due to loss of income caused by COVID-19.

 The Town of Westport anticipates applying for a grant amount up to *$250,000 under the eligible activity of public services by August 22nd, 2020, to the Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Special Round of CARES Act CDBG-CV Grant funding.  These funds are geared to assist eligible communities and households that have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak and enhances the DOH’s existing efforts to end homelessness in Connecticut.

Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order No. 7B, there is no physical location for this meeting.

The purpose of the public hearing is to provide a clear explanation of the proposed programs and to allow citizens to present their views on the Town’s needs and development priorities concerning assistance to low and moderate-income persons in the community.

All interested citizens are invited to attend the virtual public hearings.  If you are unable to attend, you may direct written comments to the Town of Westport, Human Services Department, 110 Myrtle Avenue Rm. 200, Westport CT, 06880, or you may telephone (203) 341-1050. Also, information may be obtained at the above address between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm on weekdays.
