Human Services Director Elaine Daignault announced today that CLUB203, Westport's new social and recreational outlet for adults with disabilities, will host its first monthly kick-off event with a DJ Dance Party at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) on Wednesday, September 7 from 7:30-9:00 pm.
According to Daignault, “CLUB203 is the direct result of passionate community members who saw a need for more social connections among adults with disabilities and created a program to help.”
Spearheaded by Westport's Commission on People with Disabilities members Stacie Curran and Joe Anastasi, joined by advocates Sharuna Mahesh and Kathryn Turley-Sonne, CLUB203 offers social opportunities for adults (18 yo+) with disabilities to make authentic connections and enjoy a variety of pro-social activities with peers.
“This program is an important stepping-stone for Westport. In recent years, we've seen a renewed focus on celebrating, embracing, and engaging individuals with disabilities by increasing opportunities for meaningful employment and enhancing social engagement,” said Daignault.
CLUB203 is an entirely volunteer-run monthly program for adults (18+) with disabilities. Thanks to the generosity of local organizations, the first year of programming is set for participants. To learn more about CLUB203, volunteer to help, and become a member, go to https://club203.org.
Daignault added, “Post pandemic, the social/emotional landscape for people with disabilities became even more isolative. Today, CLUB203 founders bring the gift of connection to the entire community.”

The Commission on People with Disabilities was established to ensure that Westport is a Town where people with disabilities have equal opportunity and the support to enjoy full and equal access to lives of independence, productivity, inclusion, and self-determination. For more information on the commission, go to www.westportct.com/commissiononpeoplewithdisabilities or contact Human Services at 203-341-1050.
The Commission’s role is to look at all aspects of the Town and its resources, engaging in public dialogue and creating opportunities for understanding, advocacy, and community responses to all its residents’ needs. The Commission has spearheaded programs like “Employment is for Everyone” www.westportct.com/e4e and offers a forum to discuss and support projects that benefit individuals with disabilities in Westport.
