The Children’s Halloween Parade will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016. This event is for all children, especially those 8 and under. In case of inclement weather, festivities will be take place in Town Hall at 3:30 p.m.

The town will host its Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Westport Weston Health District, 180 Bayberry Lane. Collection will occur RAIN OR SHINE

This Sunday, Sept.11, the CT United Ride will travel through eleven area towns including Westport to pay tribute to the victims and first responders of the terrorist attacks on the United States on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. Motorists should anticipate extended traffic delays along the procession’s route.
The Coach will offer a class in Social Networking for Job Search from 10 a.m. – noon, and from 1 – 3 p.m. This course will focus on the increasing necessity for an online presence to be a credible employment candidate in the current hiring environment.
The Police Department, along with the ConnDOT Highway Safety Office, has announced the continuation of the “U DRIVE. U TEXT. U PAY.” initiative, an effort to crackdown on motorists who choose to text, talk or otherwise distract themselves from the task of driving by using a hand-held mobile device.
The Westport Fine Arts Festival is taking place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Parker Harding Plaza will be completely closed to traffic and parking from 2 p.m. on Friday July 15 to 7 p.m. on Sunday July 17.
The annual PAL fireworks display is set for Thursday June 30 with a rain date of Friday July 1. This is a well-attended event that features heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic affecting all roads south of Greens Farms Road between South Compo Road and Hillspoint Road.

The Registrars of Voters Office in Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Avenue, Room 107, will be open Monday through Friday (except holidays), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for voter registration.
"We expect moderate coastal flooding with this storm and want you to be prepared. A coastal flood advisory has been issued for our area by the National Weather Service. We are recommending that vehicles in flood prone areas move to higher ground before it gets dark."
ConnDOT to Conduct Public Meetings Concerning Merritt Parkway Improvements Scheduled for Spring 2017
There will be a Public Informational Meeting concerning the proposed safety improvements and resurfacing enhancements and bridge improvements on the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) in the Town of Westport on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Town Hall Auditorium.
January 26, 2016 is the last day for voters registered in a party to change to another party.
Comments on the recent draft on the Westport Transit District Bus Study will be accepted until Dec. 31, 2015. The Draft Final Report may be downloaded from this news release.
The Department of Human Services will again sponsor its annual Holiday Giving Program for Westport residents. The Human Services Department serves largely as a facilitator, allowing Westport residents who wish to give to do so, while protecting the confidentiality of both the donor and receiver.
