  • The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority to Host Public Comment Sessions re North Avenue Water Tanks

    The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (Authority or PURA) will host public comment sessions related to Aquarion Water Company’s construction of two water storage tanks on North Avenue in Westport.

    Due to a period of severe hot and humid weather this weekend, the Town of Westport cooling center, The Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Rd, will be welcoming people tomorrow, Sunday, July 1 from 1p.m.-5p.m.


  • 2018 Fireworks Traffic Advisory - Pre and Post Show

    PRE-SHOW Heavy vehicular & pedestrian traffic will affect all roads south of Greens Farms Rd. between S. Compo Rd. & Hillspoint Rd. The beach should reopen to ticket holders by approximately 5 p.m. POST-SHOW Near the conclusion of the fireworks two-way traffic will be suspended on Compo Beach Rd. & S. Compo Rd. to the intersection of Greens Farms Rd. There will be two lanes of northbound traffic on these streets until the beach is cleared.


  • Stay Safe, Westport!

    FIREWORKS are illegal in the State of Connecticut, with the exception of sparklers and fountains. Novelty items such as party poppers, snakes, smoke devices and anything that emits a flame are not legal in Connecticut. SKY LANTERNS, or Konming lanterns are also prohibited in Connecticut. The flaming lantern can travel over long distances and drop onto rooftops, fields, trees and power lines before the flame is fully extinguished.


  • Decisions Likely for Medical Marijuana Dispensary, 500 Main St. Development-P&Z Meeting 7p.m., Thursday June 14

    Planning and Zoning Director Mary Young announced today that decisions will likely be rendered by the Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission tomorrow evening on applications to locate medical marijuana dispensary facilities in town. Residents are reminded that the public hearings have been closed, so no public testimony may be received. It is a public meeting and will be televised on Channel 79 (Cablevision), Channel 6020 (Frontier) and available by videostream at tomorrow, June 14 at 7p.m.


  • Results of Drainage Study to be Presented to Town on June 6

    The findings and results of the townwide drainage study, and Downtown Resiliency and Recovery Plan will be presented in a public meeting at the Westport Flood and Erosion Control Board on June 6.


  • Line of March for Memorial Day Parade Program for 2018 Memorial Day Service Announced

    William Vornkahl, President of the Westport Veterans Council today released the Line of March for the Memorial Day parade and the program for services to be held on Veterans Green immediately after the parade on Monday, May 28, 2018.


  • May 14 is Final Day to Change Voter Registration for August Primary Election

    Enrolled party members have only seven days left to transfer enrollment from one party to another in order to cast a ballot in their “new” party’s statewide primary, Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill said on May 7.


  • Arbor Day Celebration will be April 25; Green Day Celebration will be April 28

    The Westport Tree Board will celebrate Arbor Day and Green Day with two events. On Westport Arbor Day,, April 28, sapling trees will be distributed in front of Town Hall from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Additional saplings will be distributed on Westport Green Day, Saturday April 28, in conjunction with festivities at Earthplace.


  • The Career Coach Will Offer 2013 Microsoft Excel Classes in Westport on Thursday, Feb. 8

    The Career Coach is coming to Town Hall. On Thursday, February 8 the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft Excel 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in Excel 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.


  • Annual MLK Day will be celebrated this Sunday at the Westport Playhouse, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

    Author Ibram X. Kendi will be the featured speaker at this year’s Annual MLK Day Celebration presented in partnership by Westport Library, TEAM Westport, Westport Country Playhouse, and the Westport-Weston Interfaith Council.


  • Senior Center open as Warming Center Friday and Saturday.

    The Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave., will be open to the public Friday and Saturday as an officially designated “warming center." The Westport Library will also be open Thursday through Sunday.


  • Tax Collector Announces 2017 Taxes May be Paid in Advance

    Tax changes at the federal level will affect all 2018 federal tax returns. Both the House and Senate passed federal tax plans that impact deductions on property taxes that all Westport residents need to consider.

    First Selectman Jim Marpe has issued his annual Thanksgiving message. The text may be read in the news release and the video is included as well.

    See the 2017 League of Women Voters Guide from the link in the news release. Historically, this guide has been available through distribution in the Minuteman Newspaper. Because that newspaper ceased production last week, and the voter guide was not included for this season’s election, the town has included this link.


  • Historic District Commission Announces 2017 Historic Preservation Awards

    The HDC has selected the recipients of the 2017 Historic Preservation Awards. The awards will be presented by First Selectman Jim Marpe, Historic District Commission Chair Francis Henkels, and members of the Historic District Commission at a ceremony on Monday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall Auditorium.


  • Halloween Children's Parade to be held Thursday, Oct. 26

    The Westport Parks and Recreation Department, the Downtown Merchants Association and Westport P.A.L. have announced that the Annual Children’s Halloween Parade will take place on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017. Children and parents will meet at Main Street and Post Road East at 3:30 p.m.


  • Police Announce Oct. 28 "Drug Take Back Day" at Health District

    On Saturday, Oct. 28, the Westport Police Department, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will be participating in another nationwide “Drug Take Back Day” to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation's homes.

    The Historic District Commission will hold a public informational meeting for the proposed Bridge Street National Register Historic District on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017 at 7 p.m. in Room 309/307 of Town Hall


  • Special Voter Enrollment Session to be held Oct. 3

    There will be a special in-person voter registration session on Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to add new voters to the official voter list and to complete a preliminary voter list.
