Water Polo

Water polo has become increasingly popular and is being recognized as one of the most complete and competitive aquatic sports for many years through the incorporation of physical activity, teamwork, and discipline. Danilo Sierra-Giraldo, head coach of the Staples High School boys and girls water polo teams, has created a program to target children in Middle and High School to grow as athletes and individuals, while helping them take their game to the next level!

Instructional Water Polo

Does your child love the water, but is not interested in committing to a swim team?  Has your child heard of water polo, but is hesitant to join because it is something new and different?  This is the perfect program for him/her.  Instructional water polo focuses on teaching your child the essential components of water polo (catching, throwing, shooting, treading, offense, defense, rules of the game, etc.) while maintaining a fun, non-competitive atmosphere.  Participants must be able to independently swim 25 yards on their stomach and back for 25 yards each.  Equipment will be provided.

WATER POLO - TRAVEL PROGRAM 

A training program designed to enhance water polo performance through focused instruction on advanced swimming techniques, ball handling, offensive and defensive strategies, game tactics, and physical conditioning, primarily aimed at athletes with existing water polo experience looking to compete against other teams at a high level.
