The Fairfield Fencing Academy coaching staff has put their minds together to create the one of a kind system that is not only extremely effective in teaching fencing to young athletes but also developing their discipline for the sport and an enjoyment in the pursuit of learning more about it. The structure of our beginner program allows students to understand the achievements they make , develop their skills, and help you as parents understand the progress your children are making.
The Squire Program:
The Fairfield Fencing Academy Squire Program was designed by our coaches to give our athletes a strong foundation, an enjoyment with their practice time, and a reward for their discipline and achievements. The Squire program starts off at "Footwork 1," where they must learn all the basic footwork actions as well as Combinations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Pattern Number 1. After our students learn a new footwork combination or pattern they will receive a stamp on their glove to help remind them which combinations and patterns they should practice. Once their coach thinks the student is ready to test, the athlete will receive their test form. Parents must sign their test form as their coach has already signed it certifying that the athlete is ready to test. If you do not think your child is ready, please let us know!
