The Westport Parks and Recreation Department sponsors and helps to support many community events throughout the year as listed below:

 

 Minute Man Race -Sunday, April 26, 2026

  WYWL Minute Man Race Route

The Westport Young Women's League will host its 47th annual Minute Man Race.

The main event features a certified USA Track and Field 10k Run, and 5k Walk, while the Kids Fun Run includes a 50-yard dash, 100-yard dash, and 1/2-mile run, with a fun Kids Zone available during and after the races. Net proceeds support our Grants Program, benefiting charities throughout Fairfield County. For more information visit:

 Kickoff to Summer Event - Saturday June 13th

Join us for the Kickoff Summer Event at Compo Beach on Saturday, June 13th, 2026

(11am - 3pm)

This seasonal celebration features food vendors, a "Touch-a-Truck" experience with Police, Fire, EMS, Public Works and Parks and Rec Maintenance vehicles, plus activities like face painting, obstacle courses, and a raffle. Don't miss the fun!

Join us for a fun-filled Summer Movie Night under the stars! Bring your family, dinner, and snacks, or grab a bite from the Fire Engine Pizza Truck on-site. Enjoy a relaxing evening with a great movie - titles to be announced soon. Don't forget your blankets and chairs!

 

 Memorial Day Parade - Monday, May 25, 2026 

Memorial Day Parage

  The 2025 Memorial Day Parade will begin   promptly @9:00am. The route will be the   same as previous years.  Following the   parade, ceremonies will take place on   Veterans Green (across from Town Hall)   and the reviewing stand will be in front         of Town Hall.

 Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts  

Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts Logo.jpgThe Levitt Pavilion is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and they produce one of the largest and longest-running outdoor festivals in the nation!  The Levitt Pavilion presents over 50 FREE shows under the stars, as well as the Stars-on-Tour series.

 Independence Day Fireworks Celebration -                   Thursday, July 2, 2026, with Rain Date: Friday, July 3, 2026

Fireworks .jpgThe PAL Fireworks take place at Compo Beach. This is a ticketed event and tickets can be purchased at the Westport Police Department beginning June 1st, 50 Jesup Road and at the Parks and Recreation Office beginning June 3rd, 260 Compo Road South CASH OR CHECK ONLY.

 Westport Rotary Annual 16th Great Duck Race -           Saturday, June 27, 2026

The 16th Annual Duck Race takes place at Parker Harding Plaza in downtown Westport.  There are prizes, face painting, food trucks, games and much more.

 Westport YMCA Annual Point-to-Point Swim -           Saturday, July 25, 2026 

Westport YMCA

 An annual one mile open water race that is held at Compo Beach. The event is open to ages 10 and up.

All entrants will receive a T-shirt and awards will be given for the top male and female finishers in 14 different age groups.

 Westport Library Book Sales -                                             Online Sales and Periodically Outdoor Sales

Westport Library Book Sales are a long-standing community tradition, powered by a dedicated team of over 70 volunteers year-round, and over 200 additional volunteers who support the periodic book sales events.

 Yankee Doodle Fair -Thursday, June 18, 2026

Yankee Doodle Fair Logo Enjoy one of Westport's oldest and best loved family events. There will be carnival rides, food, face painting, bake sale and much more!

This event is sponsored by the Westport Women's Club and all profits benefit local charities and college scholarships for Staples H.S. students.

 Summer Stroll - Saturday, June 26, 2026

Soundview Summer Stroll Lock up

For the 3rd year in a row - with the support of "06880" and the Compo Beach Improvement Association - the exit beach exit road will be closed to vehicles.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Westporters can enjoy live music, food, kids' activities and more!

 

 Westport Triathlon - Sunday, September 27, 2026 

MyTeamTriumph

This is a fun family friendly event open to all ability levels. The race is a beautiful and scenic flat course. Awards will be given out to all age groups in 1st to 3rd place. Race course consists of a 1/2 mile swim, 5.5 mile bike ride and a 2.2 mile run. For more information about this event, please visit         myTeam Triumph

 Lobster Fest! - Saturday, September 19, 2026

The Westport Rotary Club is throwing their annual Lobster Fest at Compo Beach! 100% of the net proceeds benefit charitable organizations. Come out to enjoy lobsters, oysters, steak, burgers, beer, wine, soda, music, and family fun! It's going to be a blast! 

 

 Halloween Parade -Wednesday, October 28, 2026     (Rain Date: October 29th)

Halloween parade

The parade begins on Main Street and continues right onto Avery Place, then left onto Myrtle Avenue. Recommended for children up to age 8.  Children may trick or treat along Main Street and in Town Hall starting at 3:30 PM. The parade ends on the Veterans Green                                                                             (across from Town Hall). DJ Kenny Michaels                                                                      leads the Monster Mash on Veteran's Green!                                                                      Town Hall and PAL are back again for                                                                                  trick or treating fun!
