This program is designed to teach the ins and outs of organic farming and gardening through hands-on instruction from seed to harvest. During the summer session, students will focus on maintaining the Wakeman gardens while harvesting the bountiful produce! Students will also dabble with business management as they prepare and sell some of the Wakeman produce at a farm stand. As always, students will also help to care for the farm animals (chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, sheep, alpacas, and bees) while also learning about sustainable living practices.. Some engaging building projects will also be part of the fun! This program is a great opportunity for students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills which are a critical component of the new middle and high school curriculum standards.
