The Operations Division makes up the largest part of the Police Department and is the most visible of the two divisions. Most of the department's law enforcement functions are carried out by the Operations Division through the Patrol Services Bureau.

In addition, most of the department's specialized units (Dive Team, Marine Division, K-9 Unit, Motorcycle Unit, Honor Guard, and SWRERT) report to the Operations Division Commander. Currently, the Operations Division Commander is Captain Eric Woods.
