The Westport Police Department serves as the Town's 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). All 911 calls come into the Communications Center at police headquarters, where they are answered by highly trained police and/or civilian dispatchers. The Communications Center handles all incoming emergency phone calls and dispatches all police and EMS units.

All personnel assigned to work in the Communication Center are trained in Emergency Medical Dispatch and can give pre-arrival emergency medical instruction over the phone. In addition, the Westport Police Department is partnered with the Southwest Regional Communications Center for more advanced pre-arrival instructions when necessary.
