Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children aged 1 to 13 years old. The proper use of car seats, boosters, and seat belts can often prevent these deaths and injuries. According to Connecticut State Law, all children are required to ride in an approved child safety seat until they are 7 years old and 60 lbs. Proper selection, installation, and use of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts are critical!
The Westport Police Department reminds all citizens that properly restraining their children while riding in vehicles is an everyday, year-round responsibility. For more information or assistance with a car seat installation, please contact Corporal Craig Bergamo at cbergamo@westportct.gov.
