The Westport Police Department tries to get important information to residents as soon as possible. Several emergency notification systems are operational within the Town of Westport providing varying degrees of information for those who want it.

Nixle Community Information ServiceThe Nixle Community Information Service allows us to create and publish messages to be delivered to subscribed residents instantly via cell phone text message and/or email. Notifications can also be accessed online at Nixle’s web site at

This is an "opt-in" system, so you can sign up to receive what you want, when you want it and nothing more. There are 3 types of messages - alerts (high priority), advisories (important) and community messages (low priority). You choose what matters most to you with Nixle.

You can sign up for text alerts by texting "06880" to 888777.
