Background
The Town of Westport recognizes the need of its Government, its citizens, and the public at large to have accurate geographic information with which to plan, design, and access property information. It is these needs which have driven the development of a Geographic Information System, (GIS), that can be made available over the internet, using any recent Internet Explorer browser.
The initial release of the web-based GIS is focused on providing a solid foundation on which to build a wealth of information. It is focused on providing functional access to accurate base map information consisting of property information, planimetric locations, topographic data, and aerial imagery. It is the goal of the town to utilize this information, along with proven computer technology, to build useful applications that will assist users in getting answers to complex geographic based questions, and to improve the way we conduct the business of government.
Developed by CAI Technologies, this website is powered by Environmental System Research Institute's (ESRI) ArcGIS Online product. ArcGIS Online provides a scalable framework for distributing GIS services and data over the Internet. It is used to publish GIS maps, data and geographic services for access by many users both inside the organization and outside on the World Wide Web.
