The Westport Transfer Station is located
The transfer station is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and
Westport residents are allowed to dispose of their conventional household garbage as well as a variety of household items that includes furniture, carpeting, lamps, televisions and many other similar items. An area has been set aside for recycling (See Recycling).
Residents whose vans, pickups or tag-along trailers display a valid sticker may bring up to six 30 gallon bags or containers of trash to the transfer station. A van, pickup or tag-along trailer exceeding the six bag limit will be charged $40 per load.
Any vehicle or trailer larger than a conventional pickup with a 4 foot by
Appliances (dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, etc.) and tires that have been removed from their rims are subject to a disposal fee. Fees are payable at Town Hall, Room 210. Download a list of the disposal fees for various household goods.
Residents are required to show proof of residency in order to use the Transfer Station. The WP sticker makes it a little more convenient for residents who use the facility frequently as they don’t have to stop and show proof of residency each time. They may obtain a WP sticker at the Transfer Station after showing the attendant proof of residency. New residents who may still have licenses or car registrations from out of town may show other forms of proof such as a mortgage statement, deed, utility bill, etc.
