PRIVATE SECTOR Reopening Guidance

While many businesses might be permitted to operate, the decision to open and what services to offer often varies with each individual business.  Before visiting any business, please call or check the associated website to find out the status of their facility or services.

5/26/20 - GOVERNOR LAMONT'S ROADMAP FOR REOPENING CONNECTICUT

Phase I Reopening May 20, 2020

Restaurants  All Westport food service establishments are permitted to offer take out or delivery services.  An increasing number of establishments will be open for outdoor dining as they obtain the necessary approvals.  Call the establishment to find out their status.

Phase II Reopening June 20, 2020

Bars that do not serve food remain closed until at least June 20, unless earlier modified.

Gyms, theaters, nail salons, spas, and tattoo parlors remain closed until at least June 20, unless earlier modified.

Hair salons remain closed and will be permitted to reopen in early June following specific sector rules.

Schools: In-person classes at all pre-K to 12 schools are canceled for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. Schools should continue distance learning.

Summer camps: Summer camps will be permitted to open effective June 22. Guidance will be released in the coming days with specific details they must follow to operate.

Travelers: Any person coming into Connecticut by any mode of transportation should self-quarantine for 14 days.

All town buildings are closed to the public, with modified staffing.

Beaches - Compo & Soundview Modified Rules
  • Compo & Soundview parking lots open to valid 2020 beach emblem holders.  Limited capacity 8a – 9p.
  • Boat slip and drystall holders must have special parking pass and emblem.
  • Compo:  No restrooms, grills or tables.  Playground, skate park, basketball courts closed. No dogs.

Longshore Golf Modified Rules
  • Longshore open for golf with restrictions.
  • On 6/1 - 7am start Fri-Sun - 8am start Mon-Thu - last tee time 7pm all days
  • Valid 2020 beach emblems required for parking at Longshore lots C, D, E.
  • Single Rider Carts and pull carts available open till 2pm tee time
  • Walking and running on the course not allowed. 
  • Driving range, practice greens and bunkers closed.

Recreation Modified Rules
  • On 6/1 - athletic fields at Wakeman, Staples (including track) and Kings Highway open for individual use & exercise.  Social distancing & 5-person max group enforced.
  • On 6/1 - Ginny Parker Field at Staples & PJ Romano Field at Saugatuck Elementary closed for the summer due to construction.
  • On 6/5 - Town Farm & Doubleday tennis courts open - singles only. 
  • RECing Crew & Camp Compo programs cancelled for the 2020 summer season. 
  • All playgrounds & Wakeman Rd. closed. 
  • Dogs must be on leash in all public areas including Winslow.
